Santa-Rita Arquitectos is a Lisbon based office, founded in 1990 and has developed public and private projects in Portugal, Poland and Angola. Recently the office integrated InterStudio for the specific aim of operating in Libya.
The work of the office integrates in its design process the context (physical /cultural/social/political) and the complexity of the sites and the search for the nature of spaces, providing meaning to the outcome of the different programs.
The film itself intends to illustrate precisely the different relations that a certain project can introduce into a specific place and how spaces are occupied and transformed by nature and mankind.
The projects of the office often incorporate in their process recycled of ideas, in order to define a self referenced genealogy, going back and forward in order to achieve the architectural answers to a certain problem.
The work process includes the continuous experience of volume, form and space, supported by the production of sketches and models.
The office has been involved in different projects namely Museums, Libraries, Schools, Housing, Office spaces, Commercial buildings, Refurbishment of Historical Buildings and Monuments and Urban Planning. The office was nominated for the Mies Van der Rohe award 2012.
